NOTE: Classes and lengths for which the circumferences at 6 feet from the stock are listed in bold are the preferred standard sizes. Those that appear in light type are occluded for engineering purposes only.
* The figures in this column are not recommended embedment depths, but rather these values are intended to be used only where a definition of the ground line is necessary to apply requirements regarding scarring, straightness, etc.
Thomasson Company provides pressure-treated utility poles in various lengths and features. Depending on climatic conditions, Thomasson offers different grades of pressure treatments designed to delay the deterioration process and ensure the long life of the post.
Thomasson sells piling and pressure-treated utility poles, timber cross links, ties, closure stakes, crane platforms and other wood products for a wide variety of applications including ports, docks and other marine construction, as well as systems with complex foundations and landscape infrastructures. Thomasson is a manufacturer, supplier and producer of high quality utility poles – we use Southern Yellow Pine, classified as one of the top renewable wood resources.
Why should utility poles be treated?
Utility poles are subjected to the harshest conditions nature has to offer, from rain, ice and snow to insects and fungi decay. Preservatives infused into the posts through pressure, combined with the natural strength of wood, allow wooden posts and cross braces to remain in service for 70 years or more.
Socially responsible company
Thomasson Company employs environmentally friendly production processes to lessen the impact on the environment. For example, the bark of already peeled trees is used to create the steam that is used in the drying process, thus reducing the use of electricity and other natural resources.
